Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan specialist staging operations
- Evaluate initial staging concepts and technical requirements in relation to feasibility, safety and environmental impact
- Provide timely and accurate advice on the feasibility and safety of concepts and their implementation, including suggestions for workable alternatives as required
- Document details of safety and technical requirements for specialist staging concepts
- Reach agreement on specialist staging concepts and final requirements in consultation with relevant personnel
- Develop contingency plans to minimise the impact of unexpected events on specialist staging operations
- Develop and document work plans for setting up, testing and operating specialist staging elements
- Manage pre-show specialist staging operations
- Ensure that equipment and accessories are available and in safe working order
- Organise staging personnel in line with industry award guidelines, including the services of licensed riggers as required
- Contract the services of flying effects companies as required, ensuring that adequate time is allowed for installation, training and rehearsals with flying systems
- Collaborate with relevant personnel on modifications to sets to allow the safe flying of objects and people
- Monitor progress of pre-show staging operations against work plans and implement contingency plans as required to ensure that production deadlines are met
- Supervise staging aspects of technical and dress rehearsals and modify procedures as required
- Treat colleagues with consideration and respect to develop and maintain effective work relationships
- Develop and maintain production documentation as required
- Manage show and post-show specialist staging operations
- Monitor staging operations during performances and take appropriate action to resolve problems
- Supervise scheduled maintenance of staging equipment and accessories
- Maintain communication with key production personnel at all times
- Supervise bump out of staging elements
- Involve relevant personnel in evaluation of staging operations and modify procedures as required
- Contribute to evaluation of productions and implement recommendations aimed at improving overall effectiveness of staging operations
